Dynamis

Dynamis participation is available to any character of at least level 65 who has achieved the following pre-conditions:

-Rank 6 in their current Nation
-Visited Xarcabard for a Cutscene
-Checked a Trail Markings in Bastok Mines, Southern San D’Oria, Windurst Walls or Ru’Lude Gardens
-Spoken with a Goblin in one of the Beastmen strongholds; Haggleblix in the entrance of Beadeaux, Lootblox in the entrance of Davoi, or Antiqix in the entrance of Castle Oztroja

Once those pre-conditions are met, a character is eligible for participation in Dynamis. Dynamis is entered by trading a Perpetual Hourglass to the Trail Markings (Or Hieroglyphics) in the desired zone. Attending Dynamis with us, your hourglass will be handed to you at the start of the run, at which point you will be expected to enter the Dynamis area in question quickly to avoid wasting time. Due to the immense challenge of Dynamis, most groups bring anywhere from 2 alliances (36 people) to the maximum 64 people (3 alliances + 10 people), so it is important to accept the trade of your glass and get out of the way as quickly as you can, our time is limited. After entering Dynamis, you cannot enter any other Dynamis zone until 72 earth hours have elapsed. Please keep this in mind if you are going to attend runs with another shell midweek, to avoid screwing yourself and others by being unable to attend scheduled runs.

Basic Preparation

Dynamis involves a large number of people, a lot of enemies, and often a whole lot going on at once. To minimize command failure and system paralysis, there are some thing you can do to ease the load on your system.

If you are on a console, your options here are more limited, use those options available to you. All of these options can be found under the Config. Button on your in-game menu.

-Turn ON any chat filter that includes information you don’t absolutely need. While this will vary somewhat from job to job, quite a bit of needless battle spam can be eliminated this way.

-Turn OFF your shadows, weather, and footstep effects. If your system is slower, lower the number of models displayed and even bring in your clipping plane to model less of the zone if you’re not pulling or nuking. If necessary slow your Animation Frame rate.

-Turn ON all of your effects filters except the first one, “All Effects During Battle” which should remain OFF.

-Do NOT Turn OFF the autotarget option in your Config menu, it will only prevent you from automatically locking on to targets when you attack them or assist-target them.

PC users can also go into the Start Menu and select the FFXI Config program and lower their graphics and Sound effects settings, disable MIP mapping and compress textures if they’re still having problems.

Getting Yourself Ready

First. Type “/autotarget off”. This will prevent you from auto-targeting the nearest sleeping enemy and causing needless death. When the run is over, you can type “/autotarget on” to make it do that again, if you want.
Second. Check your macros. You should have NO /p lines in your macros for Dynamis, we need that chat space for commands and do not need to hear your song lyric, witty quip, or TP report.
Third. Make a /assist “Name of Main Tank here” macro. Melees will attack this target and only this target unless ordered to do otherwise. Red Mages and Black Mages can use this macro to target nukes and enfeebles. Be prepared to Manually type /assist “Name of Backup Tank” in the event the Main Tank dies, or make a second macro to cover yourself for that eventuality.
Fourth. Bring the Food and items you need to do your job. Echo Drops if you cast spells, a few Poison Potions to avoid sleepga from certain targets, especially for mages, and a ReRaise Item. If you do not have a RR item, be prepared to eat an R1 every time you die. Your exp loss is not the group’s priority. If your White Mage is not busy, you may be lucky enough to get a proper R3, but unless you are dying on a regular basis for a mandated purpose, such as a Tank, Puller, or Black Mage Leader, do not expect it. That said, we are not ruthless, but if we are running on short time, you’ll have to take what you get.
Fifth. Check the Strategy for the Zone we’re doing and see if you need additional items, specific gear, or special macros. Fighting the Dynamis Lord, doing CoP Dynamis, and engaging in certain other activities in Dynamis may require you to bring something or prepare in an unusual way. You are responsible for coming prepared to any run you attend.
These are not options. If you show up poorly prepared, under-supplied, or not playing to your fullest and cause a problem on a run there will be consequences.
